Dalgona
Introducing a hidden Korean restaurant located in the residential area of Mangwon-dong, Seoul. Known previously for its famous pasta near Hongdae, ‘Dalgona’ has relocated to Mangwon-dong and made a comeback with Pyongyang Naengmyeon. Dalgona has always impressed me with its stylish interiors, and the Mangwon-dong branch is no exception – it’s modern, clean, and carries an emotional charm.
A few months ago, I visited for their Gomtang and decided to come back to try their Naengmyeon. Unfortunately, the restaurant was temporarily closed, which left me both disappointed and concerned. It seemed the owner had personal matters, possibly health-related. Thankfully, they’ve recovered and reopened the place. As a restaurant I’ve always liked, I’m happy I can now visit more often.

Our Order
We ordered Beef Gomtang, two dumplings, half a plate of Pork Suyuk, and the Pyongyang Naengmyeon. Side dishes included pickled radish, soy sauce, garlic, and ssamjang (Korean dipping paste). Kimchi and seokbakji (radish kimchi) are self-serve.
Taste Test
Pork Suyuk (Half Plate): It’s a bit small for three people to share.
Beef Gomtang: Served with rice already in the soup. The clear broth is light and savory with tender, high-quality beef pieces.
Handmade Dumplings: The dumplings are larger than expected, filled generously with meat. They’re a bit bland without soy sauce, but overall healthy and mild.
Pyongyang Naengmyeon (Special): Topped with half a boiled egg, two slices of suyuk, and a piece of cucumber. The broth flavor is milder compared to renowned places like Woo Rae Oak or Jinmi Pyongyang Naengmyeon and closer to Eulmildae’s taste. If you prefer stronger seasoning, add salt, mustard, or vinegar, but I enjoyed the clean, meaty broth on its own – cool and refreshing!
Tips
We visited on a Saturday just after 12:00 PM and only had one group ahead of us, so the wait wasn’t too long.
There is no dedicated parking lot, but street parking in the nearby residential alleys is an option. Finding a spot wasn’t too difficult.
If you’re craving a clean, healthy-tasting bowl of Pyongyang Naengmyeon or Gomtang, I highly recommend checking out Dalgona. It’s a cozy spot with subtle, authentic flavors.
