Among Korean instant noodles, my absolute favorite is jjajang ramen, a type of noodles mixed with black bean sauce. The name of this ramen is Chapagetti. It gained international fame when a popular Korean movie, Parasite, showcased a dish called Chapaguri, which is a combination of Chapagetti and another noodle called Neoguri.
Today, let me introduce you to the delicious Chapagetti and how to prepare it.
How to Cook Chapagetti
Boil the Water
Start by boiling 600ml of water on your stove.
Cook the Noodles
Once the water boils, add the noodles and the flake seasoning packet.
The instructions suggest cooking for 5 minutes, but I prefer to cook it for only 4 minutes. Cooking it too long makes the noodles overly soft, which can affect the taste.
Prepare the Dish
After 4 minutes, turn off the heat and transfer the noodles to a bowl.Save about one ladle of the hot water and add it to the noodles in the bowl.
Mix the Seasonings
Add the powdered seasoning packet and the olive oil packet to the noodles.
Mix thoroughly with chopsticks until the seasoning is fully dissolved and evenly coated on the noodles. It may not look fancy, but it tastes absolutely delicious.
Optional Twist
It tastes amazing as it is, but if you like a bit of spice, try adding a pinch of red pepper flakes for an extra kick.
Chapagetti is a beloved snack in Korea, enjoyed by people of all ages. No matter when I eat it, it always tastes fantastic.
Give it a try—you won’t regret it!
